Job description

Description

STNA Classes paid for by PACS to provide direct care to residents within limitations based on training to date. Advancement to STNA from Hospitality Aide is possible upon successful completion of training and testing.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Familiarizing with the facility's administrative structure as introduced in pre-training orientation.
  2. Identifying residents using wristbands or photo cards before administering treatments or serving meals.
  3. Reporting all accidents and incidents observed during the shift.
  4. Using authorized abbreviations when recording information.
  5. Reporting changes in residents' conditions to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  6. Recording entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts clearly and informatively.
  7. Maintaining confidentiality of resident information and reporting any violations.
  8. Performing only those nursing care procedures trained to do.
  9. Preparing residents' rooms and assisting with mobility and transfers.
  10. Participating in nursing reports and following policies on exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous chemicals.
  11. Making beds, measuring vital signs, and assisting with personal care and feeding.
  12. Ensuring residents' needs are met and responding promptly to calls for help.
  13. Assisting with resident transfers, discharge, and personal possessions management.
  14. Following established policies and work schedules, and cooperating with staff.
  15. Reporting occupational exposures and maintaining confidentiality of all resident care information.
  16. Reporting incidents of abuse or property misappropriation and respecting resident treatment refusals.

Supervisory Requirements: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional and technical documents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts and solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in various formats.

Physical Demands: Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds, and perform tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, and use of office equipment. May assist in emergency evacuations.

Work Environment: Usually low to moderate noise level, accommodations for disabilities available as needed.
