Job summary

Tropical Financial Credit Union is seeking a highly analytical Fraud Prevention & Risk Manager to safeguard members, employees, assets, and reputation. Reporting to the VP of Physical Security & Risk Management, you will oversee security programs, fraud prevention, risk assessments, data analysis, and incident response.

You will collaborate with Operations, Compliance, Information Security, Internal Audit, HR, and branch leadership to maintain a secure environment across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Security Management, Risk Management, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in physical security, fraud prevention, risk management, or related fields.
  • Experience analyzing data and utilizing multiple technology platforms to support decision-making.
  • Experience with security systems, fraud monitoring tools, or related technologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration and maintenance of the physical security program across all facilities.

Description

Position Summary

Individuals in the job are responsible for assisting Tropical Financial Credit Union in the achievement of its purpose of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace.

The Fraud Prevention & Risk Manager is responsible for supporting and administering the Credit Union's physical security, fraud prevention, and risk management programs. Reporting to the VP of Physical Security & Risk Management, this position plays a key role in protecting the Credit Union's members, employees, assets, facilities, and reputation through proactive security measures, fraud prevention initiatives, risk assessments, data analysis, and incident response.

This position requires a highly analytical and technology-savvy professional who can navigate multiple Credit Union systems to gather, retrieve, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, mitigate risk, support prevention efforts, and enhance organizational security. The Fraud Prevention & Risk Manager collaborates closely with Operations, Compliance, Information Security, Internal Audit, Human Resources, and branch leadership to support a safe and secure environment across the organization.

Physical Security Operations
  • Support the administration and maintenance of the Credit Union's physical security program across all facilities.
  • Monitor and oversee security systems, including access control, alarm monitoring, surveillance cameras (CCTV), visitor management systems, and related technologies.
  • Conduct branch and facility security reviews to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Respond to security incidents and coordinate appropriate follow-up activities.
  • Assist in maintaining emergency response, incident reporting, disaster recovery, and security-related procedures.
  • Partner with branch and department leaders to address security concerns and implement solutions.
  • Support the Credit Union's fraud prevention efforts by identifying, analyzing, and monitoring suspicious activity, fraud trends, and emerging risk trends.
  • Review and analyze information from multiple systems to identify unusual patterns, anomalies, or potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address fraud-related concerns and recommend preventive measures.
  • Develop recommendations to strengthen controls and minimize risk and fraud losses.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and case summaries related to fraud events and resolution activities.
  • Serve as a resource to employees regarding fraud prevention, awareness, and reporting procedures.
  • Identify and assess physical security, operational, and fraud-related risks.
  • Support risk mitigation initiatives and corrective action plans.
  • Assist with security assessments, internal reviews, audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Monitor industry trends, fraud patterns, and emerging threats affecting financial institutions.
  • Recommend process improvements and control enhancements designed to reduce organizational risk.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Utilize multiple Credit Union systems and databases to gather, retrieve, validate, and analyze data.
  • Generate and maintain reports related to fraud prevention activities, security incidents, losses, trends, and risk indicators.
  • Analyze transaction activity, system records, access logs, surveillance data, and operational reports to identify patterns and potential concerns.
  • Develop dashboards, metrics, and reports that support informed decision-making and risk management efforts.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of data used in reporting and analysis.
  • Support employee training and awareness initiatives related to physical security, fraud prevention, and risk management.
  • Provide guidance to employees on security procedures, suspicious activity reporting, and fraud prevention best practices.
  • Build strong working relationships with branch leadership and business partners throughout the organization.
  • Serve as a liaison with law enforcement, vendors, and external partners as appropriate.
  • Coach and mentor the Security staff.
Compliance
  • BSA Compliance - every employee is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions within TFCU will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.
  • In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending and Credit Card Act.
  • Comply with all TFCU policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required with or without accommodation.

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in physical security, fraud prevention, risk management, financial institution security, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Experience in a financial institution or credit union environment is strongly +preferred.
  • Experience analyzing data and utilizing multiple technology platforms to support operational decision‑making.
  • Experience working with security systems, fraud monitoring tools, incident management systems, case management systems, or related technologies preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Business Administration, Security Management, Risk Management, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Technical Skills
  • Strong technology aptitude with demonstrated ability to learn and navigate multiple systems and applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Co-Pilot.
  • Experience using reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI or equivalent platforms preferred.
