Job summary

Brex Inc. is seeking a Fraud Operations Associate in our New York office. This hybrid role combines in-office collaboration (minimum three days: Mon, Wed, Thu) with remote flexibility (up to four weeks per year) to manage daily fraud workflows and enhance risk-based decision making.

You will own fraud queues, develop scalable processes, and drive efficiency while partnering with policy, data science, and engineering teams. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

  • Own projects on Fraud Ops roadmap with autonomy.
  • Leverage AI tools to elevate queues and projects.
  • Collaborate with Policy, Data Science, and Engineering to improve tooling.

We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week - Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!What you'll doAs a Fraud Operations Associate, you will be working with some of the industry's brightest minds to manage the operations aspects of fraud. Specifically, you will manage daily workflows related to transaction fraud, first-party fraud, and account takeovers and work towards improving the business's ability to scale and make risk-based and customer-focused decisions. In this role, you will be the company expert in fraud operations and have the autonomy to drive down losses and improve internal efficiencies. You will also be critical in containing fraud losses and improving operational efficiencies by contributing to the evolution of our AI tools, thus ensuring Brex scales safely and sustainably. As Brex scales, the pressure of fraud increases as well.ResponsibilitiesCase Management:Own and work associate level queues that are assigned to the Fraud Operations teamDevelop and implement scalable operational processes for fraud managementMake risk-based, subjective decisions on high-value/risk transactions & account offboardingsAchieve company-level goals around financial fraud lossesCase Escalations & Incident HandlingRespond to cross-functional partners on escalations related to fraud in a diligent way that balances risk and provides customer loveParticipating and helping in streamlining fraud operational workflows around transaction review and account investigationsAbility to take ownership of Fraud Incident handling and be able to conduct the root cause analysis & close inefficiency gapsProject & Roadmap OwnershipAbility to own & ship projects that are on Fraud Ops roadmap with full autonomyAble to use AI tools to elevate & enhance queues and projectsPartner with Policy, Data Science, and Engineering to improve tooling to scale internal operations for fraud.RequirementsPrevious management or team leader experience.Strong communication skillsAn upbeat attitude, the ability to be calm under pressure, and the desire to seek out what's broken and fix itA creative curiosity, collaborative ethic, hardworking enthusiasm, and driving personal visionExcellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a penchant for multi-tasking and self-startingAbility to collaborate and work with a team on projects and process improvements.Bonus pointsSQL knowledgeCompensationThe expected salary range for this role is $86,784-$108,480 USD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity.
