Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Special Investigator Trainee with SWIF, Financial Management Division, to learn investigative skills and support fraud prevention for workers' compensation.

You will assist with review and analysis of potential fraud, collect evidence, conduct interviews, and coordinate with agencies. The role may offer telework options and follows a standard 8:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 credits in criminal justice or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Within 3 months of graduating, educational requirements can be met.
• Strong written and verbal communication; professional discretion and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead investigator in identifying and examining suspected fraud or abuse cases.
• Gather and review documents, interview witnesses, and verify facts.
• Analyze financial and claims data to spot inconsistencies or questionable information.
• Coordinate with SWIF staff, other agencies, and law enforcement for information.
• Compile findings and organize documentation for referrals.
• Maintain case files and track investigative activities in required databases.
