Overview

How you can make a difference

You will drive HealthEquity's predictive modeling for card fraud, money-movement scams, AML alerts, and account-takeover attacks. You will also help drive our GenAI portfolio for fraud and security, building models that predict fraud in real time, creating AI assistants that automate alert triage and policy drafting, and delivering explainable insights that support immediate containment and strategic controls. Your innovations will be critical in reducing losses, scaling defenses, and enhancing HealthEquity’s security and fraud posture.

What you’ll be doing

1. Predictive Modeling & Feature Engineering: Build supervised (XGBoost, neural nets) and unsupervised (autoencoders, isolation forests) models for CNP, AML, and Account Takeover/identity fraud. Engineer features such as device fingerprints, transaction sequences, behavior embeddings, and geospatial velocity for real-time scoring.
2. GenAI Solutions: Design and fine-tune LLM-based assistants for alert summarization, adaptive rule suggestions, and dynamic MFA policy drafting. Manage vector stores and retrieval pipelines for rapid, accurate GenAI responses under load.
3. MLOps & Production Integration: Define the complete model lifecycle, including data ingestion, versioned training, CI/CD deployment, drift monitoring, and automated retraining. Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Infrastructure teams to integrate inference endpoints into transaction gateways and streaming platforms.
4. Explainability & Compliance: Implement explainable AI frameworks to ensure each alert can be traced, justified, and audited for regulatory purposes. Partner with Compliance to document model risk assessments and meet regulatory standards.
5. Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement: Establish dashboards to track capture rates, false positives, investigation velocity, and GenAI adoption. Iterate on models and prompts based on feedback from fraud investigations.

What you will need to be successful

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related field.
• 3+ years of applying AI/ML to fraud prevention, AML, or risk analytics.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow/PyTorch), and experience with large-language-model fine-tuning.
• Experience building production-ready MLOps pipelines, from data ingestion to real-time inference.
• Strong communication skills to articulate model logic, performance, and impact to diverse stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of payment card networks, EFT systems, and money movement.
• Experience with streaming architectures (Kafka, Spark) and real-time feature stores.
• Prior experience integrating GenAI assistants into workflows or customer-facing apps.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices: code reviews, testing, CI/CD.
• Open-source contributions or publications in relevant fields.
• Experience in fast-paced fintech or payments environments and a passion for staying ahead of adversaries.

Salary Range

$115,000.00 to $180,000.00 per year
