Job summary

Elder Research Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking a Data Engineer for a hybrid role supporting IRS fraud analytics and data-intensive projects. You will design secure, scalable data pipelines powering analytics, ML models, and decision-support tools in collaboration with IRS stakeholders.

You will work with data scientists, program managers, and technical teams to translate needs into reliable data solutions, ensuring production-ready data products in government environments.

Qualifications

• 2–7+ years in data science/analytics with programming experience, preferably Python.
• Bachelor of Science in statistics/CS/economics/math/analytics/data science/engineering or related field.
• Design and deploy robust, automated data pipelines with Python and SQL.
• Engineer data pipelines for fraud detection and compliance analytics across structured/unstructured data in Databricks.
• Develop ML data workflows across on-prem and cloud, integrating with analytics platforms.
• Partner with data scientists and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs.
• Improve scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security in data/ML workflows.
• Willing to learn new tech, adapt to evolving requirements, travel and work on-site as needed.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data and system issues across cross-functional environments.
• Engineer solutions that integrate diverse data types to support analytics.
• Collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to deploy analytics apps and dashboards.
• Write, test, and refine code in Python, SQL, Java, and other languages.
• Build and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines in restricted environments.
• Support the full engineering lifecycle from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Produce technical docs and briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Act as a technical consultant translating needs into effective data solutions.
