Home JOBS Francophone Program Officer - JA Africa

Junior Achievement (JA) Africa equips young Africans with the skillset and mindset to build thriving communities. Through the delivery of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs in collaboration with schools, technical/vocational centers and other partners, JA Africa works in 23 countries across Africa to inspire and prepare over 1,000,000 youth annually for success in the global economy.

JA partners with the government, corporations, and other NGOs to co-create the next generation of resilient entrepreneurs and passionate workers. JA programs empower young people to achieve financial independence by teaching them how to own and manage their own businesses, be prepared for the world of work and become financially literate. By embracing entrepreneurship, young people will be oriented to become not just job seekers but also job creators.

JA Africa has increased its presence in Francophone countries, now present in 7 countries, and is currently looking for a Francophone Support who will be able to assist the Non-English Speaking Africa Lead.

Position Summary

This full-time position reports to the Non-English Speaking Africa Lead, with the main mandate being to support the implementation of the Francophone Strategy at JA Africa. The scope of work ranges from overseeing implementation of JA Programs, training of teachers and volunteers, reporting to partners, writing of MoUs and coordinating Francophone regional meetings.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Strategic:

  1. Support in the setting up and strengthening of a Francophone Network.
  2. Work with Non-English Speaking Africa Lead to coordinate Francophone MNs monthly meetings.
  3. Work with Non-English Speaking Africa Lead to identify Francophone MNs capacity building sessions.
  4. Support in follow up meetings with Francophone Member Nations.
  5. Support in the drafting of MoUs, letters and other partnership documents.

Fundraising and Donor Management:

  1. Work with the Non-English Speaking Africa Lead to identify funding opportunities.
  2. Assist in proposal writing.
  3. Assist in reporting to donors.

Communication

  1. Prepare captions for Social Media posts on Francophone countries’ implementations.
  2. Collect testimonials, pictures and videos from implementing countries.

Program Implementation

  1. Support in the monitoring of the implementation of programs in Francophone countries.
  2. Act as translator during online meetings with other JA Africa departments.
  3. Support in translation of documents.
  4. Support in the Training of Trainers for in-country facilitators, teachers and volunteers.
  5. Assist in monitoring calls with implementing partners.

Minimum Education, Work Experience and Skills

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required.
  2. Bilingual – fluent in both French and English.
  3. Time management skills and ability to deliver under pressure.
  4. Report writing skills.
  5. Should be an effective communicator.
