Job description

The Franchise Manager is responsible for managing and strengthening relationships with franchise partners while ensuring franchise locations operate in accordance with company standards, brand guidelines, and business objectives.

This role serves as a key link between the corporate team and franchisees, providing operational support, performance guidance, and business recommendations to drive sales growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and brand consistency across franchise locations.

The ideal candidate has strong franchise and restaurant operations experience, excellent relationship-management skills, and the ability to balance franchisee support with company standards and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
Franchisee Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned franchisees and franchise locations.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with franchise partners.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to franchisees on operational, financial, and business matters.
  • Understand franchisee challenges and coordinate with internal teams to provide timely solutions.
  • Facilitate regular business reviews and performance discussions with franchisees.
  • Communicate company initiatives, policies, programs, and operational updates to franchise partners.
Franchise Operations & Brand Standards
  • Monitor franchise locations to ensure compliance with company operating standards, policies, and brand guidelines.
  • Conduct regular store visits, operational reviews, and performance assessments.
  • Identify operational gaps and develop action plans with franchisees.
  • Partner with Operations, Training, Marketing, Supply Chain, and other departments to address franchisee needs.
  • Ensure consistency in customer experience, product quality, food safety, service standards, and overall brand presentation.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and ensure agreed-upon improvements are implemented.
Franchise Performance Management
  • Monitor sales, profitability, labor costs, food costs, customer experience, and other key performance indicators.
  • Analyze store-level performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare franchise performance reports and business reviews for management.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans for underperforming locations.
  • Provide franchisees with recommendations to improve sales, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
  • Track franchisee performance against established business targets and KPIs.
New Franchise Development & Store Openings
  • Support the development and opening of new franchise locations.
  • Coordinate with franchisees and internal teams throughout the pre-opening process.
  • Ensure new locations meet operational, training, staffing, equipment, and brand requirements prior to opening.
  • Support site readiness, store setup, training, inventory, and opening activities.
  • Conduct post-opening reviews to ensure the location is operating according to company standards.
  • Support franchise expansion initiatives and identify opportunities for network growth.
Training & Operational Support
  • Coordinate with Training and Operations teams to ensure franchisees and their teams receive appropriate training.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to franchisees on restaurant operations and business management.
  • Identify training gaps and recommend appropriate development programs.
  • Support the implementation of new products, processes, technology, and operational initiatives.
  • Help franchisees develop effective staffing, scheduling, inventory, and cost-control practices.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure franchise locations comply with company policies, franchise agreements, operating procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with food safety, health, workplace safety, and operational standards.
  • Escalate significant compliance or operational issues to the appropriate leadership team.
  • Maintain accurate franchise records, reports, and documentation.
  • Partner with Legal and other internal stakeholders on franchise-related concerns when necessary.
Financial & Business Management
  • Review franchise-level financial and operating performance.
  • Assist franchisees in understanding sales, expenses, margins, labor costs, and profitability.
  • Support the development of business plans and financial improvement initiatives.
  • Review franchisee compliance with financial obligations and company requirements.
  • Provide management with insights regarding franchise performance, risks, and growth opportunities.
Marketing & Business Development
  • Coordinate with Marketing to ensure franchisees properly execute approved marketing campaigns and promotions.
  • Support local store marketing initiatives that align with company brand standards.
  • Identify opportunities to increase sales, customer traffic, and local market penetration.
  • Provide feedback from franchisees and customers to support product and marketing strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in franchise management, restaurant operations, retail, hospitality, or a related industry.
  • Previous experience managing franchise relationships or multi-unit operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of franchise operations and the U.S. restaurant/QSR industry.
  • Experience managing store performance and operational KPIs.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to analyze operational and financial data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to franchise locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with QSR, food service, restaurant, retail, or multi-unit franchise operations.
  • Experience supporting new store openings and franchise expansion.
  • Knowledge of franchise agreements, franchise compliance, and franchise operating standards.
  • Experience conducting operational audits or store evaluations.
  • Experience working with franchise management, POS, inventory, or business intelligence systems.
  • Franchise industry certification or relevant professional certification is a plus.
