Job summary

Teak Isle Manufacturing is seeking a Frame Bender to operate bending equipment and finish metal frames in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will read and apply fractional and decimal measurements, verify dimensions, and ensure the highest quality while handling materials safely in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret measurements in inches, including fractions.
• Experience using measuring tapes and converting fractions to decimals.
• Ability to set up and operate a frame bending machine per work order.
• Inspections to ensure exact measurements and quality assurance.
• Must work in a non-climate-controlled environment with high temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and apply fractional and decimal measurements to frames.
• Obtain materials from stock and secure on table; set up the bender.
• Bend, cut and finish frames according to work orders.
• Verify all measurements before bending or punching; ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Visually inspect items for defects and discrepancies before finalizing.

Job description

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs a series of operations, applying knowledge of metals and equipment to bend, form, hole punch and finish frames for assembly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Use a measuring tape accurately and consistently to measure materials and verify finished dimensions
• Reads, understands, and works with fractional and decimal measurements, including converting between fractions and decimals when required.
• Obtains materials to be shaped from stock. Places and secures material to table. Set up and operate bender.
• Verifies all measurements prior to bending, cutting, or punching material to ensure work meets required specifications.
• Square the machinery to ensure bend is completed according to specifications.
• Bends, cuts, extrusions according to work order.
• Ensure measurements are exact by checking drawings or orders.
• Visually inspects items for defects, scratches, missing holes, or any other problem with the item.
• Obtains specifications from various drawings books to ensure correct bend.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience using a measuring tape accurately is required.
• Must be able to read and understand measurements in inches, including fractional measurements (such as 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, etc.).
• Must understand decimal measurements and be able to work with both fractions and decimals.
• Must be able to accurately apply measurements when reading work orders, drawings, and specifications.
• These measurement skills are essential to successfully perform the Frame Bender position.
• The employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
• The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10 hours days with most of the time being on your feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperatures reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.
• Must be able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
• Must be able to work in a dusty environment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Other duties as assigned by management. Even though Frame Bender may be your main responsibility, Teak Isle will require cross training in other positions, including Sanding, Polishing, Packing, Assembler, Finisher Router, CNC Operator, etc. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice depending on the needs of the business.
