About the Role

Nadler Insurance, a fourth-generation independent insurance agency based in San Carlos, CA, is seeking a detail-driven, strategic, and collaborative Fractional CFO to help modernize our financial operations and guide long-term business growth.

This is a contractor position, working primarily on-site in San Carlos with the potential for hybrid flexibility after onboarding. You'll work directly with our leadership team — including father-son duo Paul and Zach Nadler — to bring paper-based bookkeeping into the digital age, establish efficient systems, and ensure financial visibility as we grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the agency’s transition from paper-based to digital accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online)
  • Manage trust accounting, cash flow tracking, premium finance oversight, and carrier commission reconciliations
  • Prepare and present monthly reporting, cash forecasts, and profit analysis to agency leadership
  • Collaborate with Paul and Zach to support decision-making, M&A planning, and operational improvements
  • Serve as a strategic advisor while still engaging in the hands-on work that drives results
  • A finance professional with experience as a CFO, Controller, or Senior Accountant in a small business or insurance/financial services environment
  • A self-starter who enjoys building structure, improving workflows, and partnering directly with owners
  • Someone comfortable working on-site, building relationships, and helping legacy operations evolve
  • Expertise in trust accounting, small business finance, and transitioning legacy processes into modern, digital systems
  • CPA or MBA a plus, but not required

Compensation

  • Contract hourly rate: $80–$120/hr, based on experience
  • Estimated workload: 10–24 hours/week to start, with room to scale
  • Monthly health stipend available after onboarding
  • Hybrid flexibility available once core systems and routines are established
