Job description

Position Summary

The Frac Site Laborer – Rig-Up / Rig-Down is responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient setup, operation support, teardown, and movement of equipment at hydraulic fracturing (frac) locations. This position performs physically demanding work in outdoor oilfield environments and works closely with frac crews, equipment operators, supervisors, and other field personnel.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, physically capable, willing to work extended hours and rotating schedules, and comfortable working around heavy equipment and high-pressure oilfield operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with rigging up and rigging down frac equipment at well sites.
  • Assist with positioning, connecting, disconnecting, and securing hoses, lines, iron, manifolds, valves, and related equipment as directed.
  • Perform manual labor associated with loading, unloading, moving, and staging equipment and materials.
  • Assist operators and crew members with equipment preparation and site setup.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, slings, shackles, chains, come-alongs, and other rigging equipment as trained and authorized.
  • Inspect rigging equipment and work areas for visible damage, hazards, or unsafe conditions and report concerns immediately.
  • Assist with proper placement and securing of equipment during rig-up and rig-down activities.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas around equipment and the well site.
  • Follow directions from the Field Supervisor, Lead, or other designated personnel.
  • Follow all company, customer, and site-specific HSE policies and procedures.
  • Participate in pre-job safety meetings, JSA/JHA reviews, toolbox talks, and other safety activities.
  • Follow proper procedures when working around high-pressure equipment, heavy machinery, moving equipment, and energized systems.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and basic troubleshooting as directed.
  • Properly handle hoses, cables, fittings, tools, and other oilfield equipment.
  • Assist with loading and securing equipment for transportation between locations.
  • Maintain required paperwork, checklists, inspections, and documentation as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors regarding job status, hazards, equipment condition, and operational concerns.
  • Perform other field and general labor duties as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities

Safety is a primary responsibility of this position. Employees are expected to:

  • Stop work and notify supervision when an unsafe condition is identified.
  • Maintain awareness of pinch points, suspended loads, stored energy, pressure hazards, and moving equipment.
  • Follow established exclusion zones and safe-work practices.
  • Wear all required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, FR clothing, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots as required by the site.
  • Never enter a restricted or hazardous area without proper authorization and training.
  • Follow lockout/tagout and other energy-isolation procedures when applicable.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and prevent trip, slip, and other workplace hazards.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain and climb ladders, stairs, platforms, and equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in awkward positions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and other weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around loud machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
Work Environment and Schedule
  • Work is primarily performed at hydraulic fracturing and oilfield well sites.
  • Position may require extended shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules.
  • Travel to remote well sites may be required.
  • Employees may work 12-hour or longer shifts depending on operational requirements.
  • Position involves exposure to heavy equipment, high-pressure systems, chemicals, dust, noise, and other oilfield hazards.
Qualifications
Required

  • Valid driver's license may be required depending on company and job-site requirements.
Preferred
  • Previous oilfield, frac, drilling, completion, construction, pipeline, or industrial experience.
  • Previous experience with rig-up/rig-down operations.
  • Familiarity with hoses, frac iron, manifolds, valves, fittings, and basic rigging equipment.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Basic understanding of oilfield safety practices.
  • Rigging, forklift, crane, H2S, First Aid/CPR, or other applicable certifications.
