Job summary

Lewis Energy Group is seeking a Gas Handling & Operations Technician for safe handling and distribution of natural gas in frac operations. You will regulate gas temperature to optimize fuel substitution, supervise rig up/rig down, and ensure proper operations of pumps, valves, and meters.

You will document results, conduct checks, and maintain logs while following OSHA, DOT, and facility safety guidelines. Strong commitment to safety and accurate reporting is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; one year related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handle and distribute natural gas for frac operations.
  • Operate pumps, valves, meters, and transfer gas between pipeline and frac operations.
  • Maintain logs of fuel receipts, transfers, shipments, and testing results.
  • Follow OSHA, DOT, and facility safety guidelines; participate in safety audits and drills.
  • Prepare and load/unload fuel equipment and transport in compliance with DOT requirements.
  • Assist maintenance with preventive maintenance on pumps, filters, hoses, and meters.

Job description

Responsible for safely handling, and distributing natural dry gas for Frac Operations; operator is expected to regulate desired gas temperature which should optimize fuel substitution performance.

Fuel Handling & Operations- Supervise rig up/rig down of all frac fuel equipment, purge pack and line up valves for proper operations. Operate pumps, valves, meters, and related equipment to transfer dry gas between pipeline, and Frac operations. Monitor fuel flow rates, product levels, using manual and automated systems. Conduct tank gauging, perform lines & checks. Prepare and load/unload fuel equipment and transport in compliance with facility and DOT requirements.

Quality Control- Perform routine checks and testing for water vapor samples, water levels, and other specification requirements. Document results and escalate abnormalities to supervisors. Maintain cleanliness of system to prevent contamination across product types.

Quality Control- Follow all OSHA, DOT, and facility safety guidelines. Participate in safety audits, emergency response drills, and hazard recognition activities. Use appropriate PPE, comply with lockout/tag out procedures, and maintain a safe work environment.

Equipment Maintenance- Inspect equipment as daily basis and report any issues requiring repair. Assist maintenance teams with preventive maintenance on pumps, filters, hoses, and meters. Keep records of maintenance, fuel movements, and system performance.

Documentation & Reporting-Maintain accurate logs of fuel receipts, transfers, shipments, and testing results. Operate computerized inventory or CYGNET systems for reporting. Provide shift handover notes to ensure continuity of operations.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to read gauges, meters, and technical documents.

Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
