Job summary

Airswift is seeking a seasoned leader to head FPSO onshore construction and offshore execution, including fabrication, integration, sail-away, and pre-commissioning support. You will ensure constructability, readiness, and safety while delivering projects on schedule and within budget.

You will oversee hull/topsides construction, offshore installation, and complex interfaces across multiple yards and contractors, driving performance, risk mitigation, and contractor management on a global scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Naval Architecture or Structural).
• Minimum of 15 years in offshore oil & gas with senior construction leadership.
• Expert-level knowledge of FPSO design, engineering, construction, offshore installation, and hook-up.
• Experience delivering FPSO projects involving new-build, conversion, and redeployment.
• Expert-level knowledge of hull structures and marine systems.
• Interface management within multi-contractor and multi-package environments.
• Strong contract management including claims management, variations, and contractor performance oversight.
• Project execution across multiple geographical locations and fabrication yards.
• Fluency in English, with strong reporting and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally; offshore medical certification (BOSIET/HUET).

Responsibilities

• Lead hull and topsides construction, conversion, or refurbishment activities at the yard, including structural steel works and marine systems.
• Drive constructability reviews and provide design-for-construction input during FEED and detailed engineering to minimize rework and mitigate schedule risks.
• Monitor contractor progress, manpower allocation, productivity, subcontractor performance, and schedule float; implement corrective actions.
• Oversee mechanical completion, punch-list management, system handover, and pre-commissioning readiness prior to sail-away.
• Plan offshore installation activities including mooring hook-up, riser pull-in, tie-ins, and commissioning support.
• Review and approve marine warranty, tow-out, station-keeping, lifting, and SIMOPS procedures for offshore readiness.
• Interface management across hull, topsides, mooring, SURF, drilling/subsea, operations, and vendors; maintain interface register.
• Administer EPC/EPCI and fabrication contracts; support tendering processes and contracting strategies.
• Promote a visible safety culture across yard and offshore locations, ensuring compliance with HSE policies, Class/Flag requirements, and QA/QC traceability.

Job description

Role Purpose

Lead the FPSO onshore construction and offshore execution scope, covering fabrication, integration, sail-away, offshore installation, hook-up, and pre-commissioning support. Accountable for constructability, construction readiness, execution performance at site, and offshore hook-up delivery, ensuring the asset is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with Class, Flag, regulatory, and Company requirements.

Onshore Construction

Lead hull and topsides construction, conversion, or refurbishment activities at the yard, including structural steel works, marine and hull systems, piping, E&I, module fabrication, lifting operations, and integration activities. Drive constructability reviews and provide design-for-construction input throughout FEED and detailed engineering phases to minimize rework and mitigate schedule risks. Monitor contractor progress, manpower allocation, productivity, subcontractor performance, and schedule float, identifying deviations and implementing corrective action plans as required. Oversee mechanical completion, punch-list management, system handover, and pre-commissioning readiness prior to sail-away.

Offshore Installation & Hook-Up

Plan, coordinate, and lead offshore installation activities, including mooring hook-up, riser and umbilical pull-in, tie-ins, hook-up, and commissioning support scopes. Review and approve marine warranty, tow-out, station-keeping, lifting, and SIMOPS procedures, ensuring offshore construction readiness as well as POB and logistics planning. Lead the offshore construction team and manage interfaces with marine spread resources, installation contractors, and vessel management teams.

Interface Management

Manage all construction-related interfaces across hull, topsides, mooring, SURF, drilling/subsea, operations, and third-party vendors. Maintain the interface register, chair interface meetings, and ensure interface queries are resolved in line with agreed project milestones.

Contract Management & Administration

Administer EPC/EPCI and fabrication contracts, including scope control, milestone certification, variation orders, back-charges, claims defense, and contract close-out activities. Support tendering processes, technical bid evaluations, and contracting strategies for construction and offshore installation packages.

HSE & Quality

Promote and sustain a visible safety culture across both yard and offshore locations, ensuring compliance with Company HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and lifting and marine operations standards. Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, and Coastal State requirements, maintaining full traceability of QA/QC records and completions documentation.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferable in Naval Architecture or Structural Engineering.

Minimum of 15 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, including significant time in senior construction leadership positions.

Expert-level knowledge of FPSO design, engineering, construction, offshore installation, and hook-up activities.

Proven experience delivering FPSO projects involving new-build, conversion, and redeployment scopes.

Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with hull structures and marine systems.

Demonstrated success in interface management within multi-contractor and multi-package project environments.

Strong contract management and administration skills, including claims management, variations, and contractor performance oversight.

Project execution experience across multiple geographical locations and fabrication yards.

Fluency in English, both written and spoken, complemented by strong reporting and presentation skills.

Proven ability to perform effectively within multi-location, multinational, and multicultural project environments.

Valid offshore medical certification, BOSIET/HUET training, and availability to travel internationally (or ability to obtain).

Preferred

Expert-level knowledge of mooring systems, including spread, turret, internal/external, and disconnectable configurations, as well as mooring installation and hook-up activities.

Experience working with major Asian and Middle Eastern conversion/fabrication yards, together with international MWS and Class regimes.

Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional registration.
