Qualifications

Job description

Job Overview

FPGA Engineer II – Raytheon Effector Subsystems Products (ESP) department. Design, develop, and deliver production‑quality FPGA solutions for weapon system products across the globe, from ground to space. Work with AMD, Altera, and Microchip device families and support rapid prototyping to production release.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver production quality FPGA releases from proof of concept to production.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, software engineers and program management to ensure product success.
  • Design and code in VHDL for reliability, maintainability, reviewability, and reusability.
  • Verify designs using directed and constrained random tests, tracking functional and code coverage.
  • Create complete documentation: requirements, verification plan, user’s guides, and configuration management.
  • Provide design support from requirements definition through integration and test.
  • Participate in internal and external technical reviews.
  • Drive projects to meet program schedules and budgets.
Qualifications – Required
  • Bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or STEM) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2years of relevant experience in digital design and HDL coding for configurable logic devices.
  • Experience with at least four of the following:
    • Digital Design and HDL coding targeting FPGA devices.
    • Delivering FPGA solutions to system‑level applications.
    • Experience with Altera, Lattice, Microchip, or AMD FPGA devices and associated tools.
    • Integration and debugging of electronics using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.
    • FPGA timing constraints and timing closure.
    • Digital simulation using Questa, RivieraPro, or similar tools.
    • Python or C programming.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑directed with the ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight.
  • High motivation and desire to learn in a fast‑paced team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Digital Design knowledge and radar processing techniques.
  • Image processing techniques for visual and infrared sensors.
  • Gigabit serial interfaces and multi‑gigabit transceivers (MGTs).
  • Embedded processor and SoC development for FPGA devices (Microblaze, Nios, ARM).
  • Linux development environment experience.
  • Git and GitHub proficiency.
  • Encryption/decryption standards (AES, RSA, ECC).
  • Industry standard interfaces (AXI, PCIe, SPI, I2C).
  • Leadership experience (team lead, technical lead, project lead).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • MS or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering (advantage).
