Job summary

Ayo Semiconductor in Boston is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join our hardware team. You will write and deploy RTL and embedded C/C++ code on FPGA-based prototypes central to our chip development.

This hands-on role is on-site, fast-paced, and ownership‑driven. You will collaborate closely with AI and ASIC teams to move prototype work forward.

Design, implement, and test FPGA systems, evaluate pin mappings, and help scale our FPGA infrastructure as we grow.

Qualifications

• RTL proficiency required — Verilog or VHDL.
• Real industry FPGA experience deploying code to real hardware.
• Familiarity with major FPGA platforms (Xilinx/AMD preferred; Lattice or Intel/Altera acceptable).
• Embedded systems experience is a plus.
• Exposure to ASIC verification workflows is a bonus.
• Undergraduate or Master’s degree; PhD not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test FPGA-based systems supporting chip verification and prototype development.
• Deploy and iterate RTL code targeting FPGAs in prototype hardware.
• Deploy and iterate on embedded C/C++ code targeting embedded processors on FPGA SoCs.
• Collaborate with ASIC engineers to build test benches for ASICs and prototypes.
• Support FPGA trade studies and pin mapping assessments on development boards.
• Assist bring-up and test of new PCBs and prototypes with peripherals (ADCs, DACs, memories).
• Contribute to upgrading and scaling existing FPGA infrastructure.
