Position: FPGA Engineer, Space Team

As an FPGA Engineer on the Space team, you will be responsible for designing and building the gateware at the heart of our next-generation space radios and RF solutions. Your work will involve all aspects of FPGA system development, from high-speed interfaces with hardware components to software integration. Your primary focus will be implementing digital signal processing algorithms that enable communications and sensing across our products, working closely with DSP and software engineers.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver highly reliable gateware for our custom-designed hardware.
2. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop new products from prototype to deployment.
3. Own gateware products, including defining requirements, verification, testing, and documentation.
4. Implement signal processing algorithms in gateware and work with DSP engineers on FPGA-friendly designs.
5. Integrate designs onto FPGA/SoC platforms and validate communication and operation in space environments.
6. Contribute to our software development processes.
7. Assist in hardware design discussions and debugging.

Required Skills

1. Expertise in writing gateware in SystemVerilog.
2. Experience developing FPGA platforms using Xilinx toolchains.
3. Proficiency in verifying FPGA modules with thorough unit and functional testing.

Desired Skills

1. Understanding of DSP fundamentals and experience with high-rate conversion interfaces (e.g., Xilinx RFSoC, AD9361).
2. Designing and modeling DSP blocks and algorithms such as filters and modems.
3. Embedded systems software development experience in C++ or C, or similar languages.
4. Hardware debugging skills, familiar with tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers (SPI, CAN, Ethernet).
5. Ability to read circuit schematics.
6. Experience with high-speed serial links like GbE, PCIe.
7. Knowledge of high-reliability, safety-critical, fault-tolerant systems.
8. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.

Compensation

$110,000 - $180,000 a year
