Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • Experience or coursework in Digital Electronics, Circuit Design/Analysis, Digital Design, or HDL coding.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMM) for characterization, debugging, validation.
  • Experience may be obtained via on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

What You Will Do

In this role as a Digital Electrical Engineer II, you will design and develop next-generation circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and FPGA-based solutions utilizing leading industry architectures including AMD, Altera, and Microchip. Your designs will power mission-critical applications across gigabit serial interfaces, Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) digital signal processing, embedded controllers, and processor interfaces. Working in an agile, cross-functional environment alongside systems, mechanical, and software engineers, you will contribute across the full lifecycle—from initial architectural concepts and algorithm modeling to hands‑on hardware integration and production release. This is for our Tucson, AZ Location

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and verify digital architecture, circuit card designs, and FPGA implementations targeting configurable logic devices.
  • Model digital algorithms, partition design functions, and write high‑reliability code for embedded processing systems.
  • Perform component selection, schematic capture, circuit simulation, and collaborate on physical layout and routing.
  • Integrate and validate hardware designs in a laboratory environment using advanced test instrumentation against rigorous system requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive design documentation, technical reports, and configuration management artifacts throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support engineering activities from initial customer requirement definition through formal production release.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
  • Degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Experience or coursework with one or more of the following: Digital Electronics, Circuit Design or Analysis, Digital Design, or HDL coding targeting configurable logic devices.
  • Experience using common electronic test and measurement equipment (such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or digital multimeters) for circuit characterization, debugging, and validation.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Demonstrated proficiency with VHDL or Verilog coding, simulation, and synthesis tools.
  • Hands‑on experience integrating, troubleshooting, and debugging digital electronics using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters.
  • Experience with electrical schematic capture, PCB layout, or circuit analysis software.
  • Familiarity with FPGA timing constraints, timing closure, and digital simulation tools (e.g., Questa, Riviera-PRO).
  • Exposure to embedded processors, System on Chip (SoC) architectures, or industry protocols (AXI, PCIe, SPI, I2C).
  • Experience utilizing Python, C, or Linux-based development environments for engineering workflows.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or GitHub.
  • Understanding of radar, image, or digital signal processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with multi‑gigabit transceivers (MGTs) and high‑speed serial interfaces.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
