Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems in the UK is hiring a FPGA-focused engineer to develop and integrate FPGA-based solutions for safety-critical mission computer systems used in advanced combat air platforms.

You will work with embedded software, hardware and systems engineering teams, contribute to AI/ML explorations in FPGA contexts, and enjoy a hybrid working model with flexible benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in electronic/computer engineering.
• Experience developing FPGA using VHDL/Verilog.
• Understanding of FPGA design, simulation, verification, integration.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and digital electronics.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• High motivation, integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Develop FPGA designs and firmware using VHDL/Verilog.
• Support full FPGA lifecycle from requirements to integration.
• Create and maintain simulation environments and test benches.
• Perform simulation, testing and fault investigation.
• Work with embedded software/hardware teams to integrate FPGA solutions.
• Contribute to design reviews and documentation.
• Explore AI/ML models within FPGA and embedded computing contexts.
• Collaborate with industry/government/academia engineers.
