Job summary

Mercor is seeking experienced software and firmware engineers to support an advanced engineering and AI research initiative. The role emphasizes hands-on work on real hardware, embedded firmware, FPGA/RTL designs, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Strong candidates will own production hardware-connected software lifecycles, bring-up hardware, verify and validate systems, and provide practical engineering judgments for complex embedded environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software, firmware, FPGA, or embedded systems engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and debugging software/firmware on real hardware.
• Experience owning production hardware-connected software or firmware lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Apply hands-on software, firmware, and digital hardware expertise to complex tasks involving real physical systems.
• Review embedded firmware, FPGA/RTL designs, flight software, test automation frameworks, hardware interfaces, and system-level workflows.
• Analyze architecture and trade-offs for real-time performance, memory, and hardware/software integration.
• Assess technical correctness, robustness, and feasibility of solutions for embedded/hardware-connected systems.
• Identify implementation errors, race conditions, timing issues, and interface failures.
• Develop or review rigorous engineering problems, reference implementations, and evaluation criteria.
• Provide clear technical feedback grounded in practical hardware constraints.
