FP Movement in New York City is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Merchandise Planning, Wholesale to lead our wholesale planning and financial forecasting for our growing activewear line. This role sits in our NYC showroom and will oversee commercial inventory strategy across a diverse account portfolio.

You will bridge macro financial strategy with day-to-day execution, serving as a central leader across Sales, Finance, Credit, Operations, and Merchandising.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership in Wholesale Merchandise Planning or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.
• Deep mastery of wholesale P&L dynamics, 6-month planning, OTB management, and margin analysis.
• Proven ability to align cross-functional teams across Sales, Finance, Operations, and Credit.

Responsibilities

• Financial Forecasting: build budgets, 6-month plans, and monthly forecasts by store type and region.
• OTB & Inventory Strategy: manage OTB, demand forecasting, and closeout planning.
• Risk & Long-Range Planning: audit forecasts, reserves, markdowns, and long-range initiatives.
• Revenue & Margin Tracking: monitor shipping progress, GSP to Net Sales, and channel profitability.
• MDAs & RTVs: minimize markdowns/RTVs; negotiate vendor terms to protect margins.
• Process Improvement: resolve order-picking and system limitations via cross-functional work.
• Credit & Account Strategy: support Credit Management, collections, and multi-divisional credit solutions.
• Account Engagement: attend market meetings and assortment reviews to align customer plans.

Role Summary

FP Movement is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Merchandise Planning, Wholesale based in our New York City showroom. This leader will oversee wholesale planning, financial forecasting, and commercial inventory strategy across our rapidly growing activewear business.

Bridging macro financial strategy with operational execution, you will serve as a central leader across Sales, Finance, Credit, Operations, and Merchandising. You will optimize Open-to-Buy (OTB) and replenishment programs, mitigate financial risk, protect gross margins, and lead a high-performing planning team across an expansive account portfolio (department stores, specialty brick-and-mortar, digital partners, and international distributors).

Role Responsibilities

Financial Planning & OTB

• Financial Forecasting: Develop and manage bottom-up budgets, 6-month financial plans, and monthly forecasts by store type and region.
• OTB & Inventory Strategy: Partner with Merchandising on OTB management, category demand, regular-price forecasting, and closeout strategies.
• Risk & Long-Range Planning: Work with Finance and the Controller to audit forecasts, reserves, markdowns, bad debt exposure, and long-range strategic initiatives.

Sales Operations & Margin Protection

• Revenue & Profitability Tracking: Track daily shipping progress and Gross Sales Projection (GSP) to Net Sales conversion while monitoring channel profitability.
• Allowances & Approvals: Proactively minimize Markdown Allowances (MDAs) and Returns to Vendor (RTVs); approve RTVs and credit memos; negotiate vendor terms to maximize margin.
• Process Improvement: Resolve order-picking, release, and supply chain system limitations through cross-functional collaboration.

Account & Credit Strategy

• Sales & Credit Operations: Partner with Credit Management to support all accounts, resolve credit holds, facilitate collections, and develop multi-divisional credit solutions.
• Account Engagement: Attend key market appointments, Top-to-Top meetings, and assortment reviews to align customer plans with financial goals.
• Sales Alignment: Maintain continuous alignment with internal sales teams and independent rep networks across all territories.

Role Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership in Wholesale Merchandise Planning, Category Financial Analysis, or Inventory Operations in apparel (activewear/performance experience preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.
• Deep mastery of wholesale P&L dynamics, bottom-up 6-month financial planning, OTB management, margin allowances, and financial modeling.
• Proven track record of aligning cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Operations) and managing credit/risk across major retail channels.

Pay Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $225,000.00 /Yr.
