Job summary

Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. is seeking a Financial Planner & Analyst Manager to serve as the organization’s principal FP&A analyst under the VP of Finance.

You will ensure data accuracy, provide reporting, forecasting, and decision support for executive management, and build updated tools for financial planning. Lead a small FP&A team, oversee QA/QC of finance outputs, and help drive budgeting and policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education – Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related
  • Years of Experience – 5+ years related professional experience

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert for ERP, budgeting software, financial processes, etc.
  • Work with VP Finance and FP&A team to provide timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Create and update visual representations and summaries detailing company’s financial health
  • QA/QC work product of Finance Dept. and expense entries by non-Accounting staff
  • Interface with internal clients to provide exceptional quality support and data collection
  • Enforce company policies, especially in regards to finance SOPs
  • Provide Accounting leadership and training as needed
  • Manage staff of 1-2 FP&A’s

Job description

Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS) is the North American leader in insurer wildfire services, combining professional wildfire consulting and loss intervention services with Qualified Insurance Resources (QIR).Founded in 2001 to fulfill initial-attack assignments for the US Forest Service, the company added professional services support in 2005 and launched wildfire loss-intervention programs for insurers in 2008.

WDS Wildfire Loss Intervention Service (WDS Service) applies a comprehensive approach to reducing risk in catastrophic exposure on an industry scale, decreasing the average annual loss (AAL) for our insur er clients, and providing peace of mind to their policy holders during wildfire events. WDS provides these industry - leading services to insurer clients and their policy holdersacross a 22-state service area.

The Financial Planner & Analyst Manager will serve as the organization’s principal financial analyst under the direction of the Vice President of Finance. They will ensure accuracy of source data, provide reporting, forecasting, and decision support for executive management, build and update report tools, and analyze the data product for aberrations and trends that may impact the Wildfire Defense Group. In addition, they will serve as the financial reporting ombudsman for other departments, as prioritized by the VP of Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Subject matter expert for organization’s E.R.P., budgeting software, financial processes, etc.
  • Work with VP Finance and FP&A team to provide timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Create and update visual representations and summaries detailing company’s financial health
  • Q.A./Q.C. work product of Finance Dept. and expense entries by non-Accounting staff
  • Interface with internal clients to provide exceptional quality support and data collection
  • Enforce company policies, especially in regards to finance SOP’s

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum Education – Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related
  • Certifications – N/A
  • Years of Experience – 5+ years related professional experience
Required Skills
  • Ability to manage a staff of 1-2 FP&A’s
  • Familiarization with MS suite products and ability to learn new programs
  • Ability to manage and summarize large data sets
  • Advanced understanding of financial statements and financial forecasting
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Above average communications skills with ability to manage the expectations of others
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with little supervision
  • Organized approach to project management and establishing departmental routines
  • Craft and enforce departmental policies and procedures
  • Create and defend logical arguments in a peer environment
Preferred Skills
  • CPA, MBA, or MS in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or Related
  • 3-5 years experience in Financial Analytics
  • Familiarization with excel functions such as pivot tables, lookups, and macros
  • Base knowledge of PowerBI or other means to visually represent financial data
  • Familiarization with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central ERP
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15-lbs.
  • Work overtime as organizational needs require

The pay range for this role is:

103,000 - 130,000 USD per year (WDS Bozeman Headquarters)
