Job summary

TriMas Packaging LLC is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to design and build a data ingest, transform, and load system for financial data from multiple formats. The project supports FP&A processes and aims to improve decision-making efficiency.

You will develop models to normalize data, map accounts, and create outputs such as dashboards and automated reports. Collaboration with finance stakeholders and integration with Excel/Power BI are expected.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills.
• Experience with data processing libraries and file parsing (Excel, CSV, PDF).
• Knowledge of ML/AI techniques for classification or anomaly detection.
• Understanding of financial statements and FP&A processes.
• Experience with databases (SQL, data warehouses).
• Knowledge of automation frameworks or RPA tools.
• Experience building internal tools or analytics products.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop a system to extract, transform, and load financial data from diverse sources.
• Build models to normalize inconsistent data formats and map accounts across datasets.
• Develop functionality to compare financial statements (actuals vs budget, forecast vs prior).
• Identify variances and key drivers, highlight anomalies or inconsistencies.
• Implement data validation and reconciliation logic.
• Create user-friendly outputs such as dashboards (Power BI / web app) and automated reports.
• Integrate with existing tools (Excel, Power BI, ERP systems).
• Ensure scalability, performance, and data accuracy.
