Job summary

United Educators in Bethesda, MD seeks a Financial Analyst to support FP&A, budgeting and forecasting, and management reporting. The ideal candidate is early-career, analytical, and technically minded, with an interest in building a career in FP&A.

The role involves preparing financial models, analyzing G&A expenses, and developing KPIs and dashboards using Excel and Power BI. A hybrid in-office schedule complements collaboration with the finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, MIS, data analytics, business or a related quantitative discipline.
• Typically requires 2 years of relevant FP&A or financial analysis experience; internships may be considered.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, curiosity about business drivers, and ability to explain variances.
• Interest in modeling, forecasting and scenario analysis; ability to develop these skills on the job.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; pivot tables and data analysis experience preferred.
• Exposure to Power BI or other BI tools via work or projects is preferred.
• Interest in automation and AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and analysis.
• Experience with SQL or similar low-code tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare financial models and scenario analysis using Excel, Power BI and FP&A platforms.
• Serve as primary analyst for G&A operating expenses and monthly forecast updates.
• Analyze actual results vs. budget/forecast; explain variances to finance leadership.
• Partner with business areas to gather information and improve analysis with automation and AI tools.
• Develop management KPIs, dashboards and recurring reports on financial and operating performance.
• Support special projects as assigned.
• Adhere to cybersecurity policies and complete required security training.
