Job summary

Tempus Unlimited, Inc. is seeking a community-based Senior Skills Trainer to educate consumers on managing their consumer-directed hands-on care under the Personal Care Attendant Program.

The role focuses on training, assessing, and supporting participants and surrogates to ensure compliant, effective PCA services. This position requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work within Mass Health regulations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow-up on functional skills training per contract.
• Assess consumer ability to manage PCA services.
• Train consumers and surrogates in PCA program per Mass Health and PCM contract.
• Maintain confidentiality in all consumer issues.
• Attend in-service, supervision and staff development meetings.
• Demonstrate knowledge of program policies and Mass Health regulations.
• Support Independent Living consumer control.
• Report suspected incidents to DPPC.
• Complete required documentation within timelines.
• Provide training and ongoing support for EVV.
• Manage intake, reassessments and related documentation.

Job description

Summary/Objective

A community based Senior Skills Trainer for our Personal Care Attendant Program. The Skills Trainer will educate consumers on how to successfully manage their consumer-directed hands‑on care. The Senior Skills Trainer will also be primarily responsible for other skills training department wide tasks and processes.

Essential Job Functions

Follow-up on assigned functional skills training in a timely manner as determined by contract.
Assess consumers and/or surrogate ability to manage PCA services.
Train consumers and/or surrogates the skills needed to manage their PCA program as outlined in the Mass Health Service Agreement and according to the Personal Care Management (PCM) Contract.
Maintain confidentiality in all consumer related issues.
Attend in-service, supervision and staff development meetings when requested by Supervisor or Manager.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of program policies and procedures and Mass Health regulations.
Demonstrate a commitment to the Independent Living philosophy of consumer control.
Must report all suspected incidents of consumer sexual/physical abuse and neglect to the Disabled Person Protection Commission (DPPC).
Work within company policies and in accordance with the PCM Contract in order to complete and track for receipt of required documentation within required timelines. Assigned referrals and intake documentation
Service Agreements and Assessments for re‑evaluations
Supportive documentation for intakes and re‑evaluations as needed
Return all phone calls from surrogates and consumers within 72 business hours Work within policies to complete and submit internal requirements: Progress Notes
Dayforce, Outlook Schedule
Mileage and Expense Forms
Return all required email communications within 48 business hours.
Follow up with Supervisor and/or Program Assistant on requests for skills training and tracking reports: Non‑billing, over‑billing and ineligible consumers.
Provide training and ongoing support for EVV.
Major problems requiring skills training.
Consumer status updates.
Intake, Quarterly and Annual Reviews.

Qualifications Experience

Experience providing services for people with disabilities and knowledge of PCA programs is preferred.
Experience or education in teaching or counseling is helpful.
Knowledge of community resources and social service systems is beneficial.
Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office/Outlook and the ability to navigate databases.
Specialized training provided as needed. Required Education Bachelor's Degree preferred; GED or High School Diploma required.
