Job Title: Fourth Grade Teacher

Reports To: School Administrator

Job Type: Full Time

Hours: 7:30am – 4:00pm

Summary

The qualified individual must be an evangelical Christian committed to living a biblical lifestyle and in full agreement with the school’s statement of faith. He/she is expected to understand and live out a biblical worldview in all areas and be able to teach that worldview in the classroom. He/she must maintain and teachable spirit while demonstrating patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing their day‑to‑day duties. The teacher shall feel called of God to the teaching profession, and must be devoted to praying and working with administration, faculty, students, and parents to develop and maintain a school that is thoroughly Christian and academically exceptional. The teacher shall help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the glory of God.

This position allows one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. The role should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis are portrayed in an effective and God‑honoring fashion.   • Adhere to the statement of faith.
  • Be deeply committed to a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
  • Spend time daily in personal devotions and prayer.
  • Faithfully attend a local, Bible‑believing church.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others, including commitment to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke6:40).
  • Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ.
  • Follow the Matthew18 principle in dealing with students, faculty, parents, and administration.
  • Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and to grow in their faith.
  • Work gracefully with parents, students, and other staff to develop a unified and successful educational program.
  • Accept responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions.
  • Participate eagerly in professional development.
  • Recognize parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and assist them in that task.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy.
  • Submit to constituted authority, notify administration of policies that cannot be supported, and provide constructive recommendations for administrative functions.
Professional Qualifications
  • Plan and prepare lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning, demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy, knowledge of students, selecting instructional outcomes, knowledge of resources, designing coherent instruction, and designing student assessment.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning by establishing respect and rapport, a culture for learning, managing procedures and behavior, and organizing space effectively.
  • Implement effective classroom instruction by communicating with students, using questioning and discussion techniques, engaging learning, using assessment in instruction, and demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and expectations through reflection, accurate records, participation in a professional community, humility in service, professional growth, a teachable spirit, cooperation with administration, supervision in varied settings, professional representation of the school, and adherence to integrity and ethical conduct as Scripture commands. All other duties assigned by the School Administrator are also expected.
Partnering with Families
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to keep them updated and engaged on classroom happenings, instructional program, and their child’s progress.
  • Use parents as a resource and encourage them to contact the teacher with questions or concerns.
  • Send out a weekly newsletter.
  • Collaborate with parents to develop approaches helping students at school and home as needed.
Biblical Worldview and Apologetics Integration
  • Start every lesson with Scriptures in all areas.
  • Use only materials that are approved.
  • Open classes with prayer and pray during the day with and for students.
  • Refute false religions and clearly present the Biblical account.
  • Ensure classroom environment reflects biblical teaching and connects all subjects to the Bible.
Qualifications
  • Education: Hold a minimum bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent with completed student teaching or other educational field experience.
  • Preferred: Two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
