Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer – Cast Iron Foundry to join our Hodges, South Carolina team. You will design, develop, build, implement, and validate foundry tooling used to manufacture cast-iron components, applying tooling and casting principles to create patterns, cores, core boxes, gating systems, and other features.

You will collaborate with design engineering, tooling shop, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to ensure tooling designs can be produced and validated

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Materials Science preferred.
• Experience in foundry tooling design and construction.
• Familiarity with 3D modeling and casting processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop 3D models and detailed designs for cast-iron foundry tooling.
• Evaluate casting geometry and determine cores, core prints, parting lines, gating, risers, filters.
• Design and support patterns, core boxes, gating systems and related tooling.
