Job summary

Matthews International is seeking a Foundry Operator to support melting, pouring, and finishing metal castings on a production line. You will work with sand molds, flasks, and ladles, ensuring quality and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include assembling flasks, preparing molds, handling tools and equipment, and keeping work areas clean while meeting production deadlines. Some overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Basic MS Office Suite skills; proficient in Outlook & internet applications.
• Analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management from concept to completion.
• Basic verbal and written communication skills; ability to analyze, interpret and reason.
• Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the organization and with internal/external clients.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environments.
• Ability to influence peers and management; self-motivated with attention to detail.
• Possess a mechanical aptitude; operate common hand tools and basic power tools; forklift experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist with melting metal and pouring into molds.
• Prepare sand molds, assemble flasks, and maintain molds on the production line.
• Apply binder to sand molds and dry surfaces with a blowtorch.
• Clamp and unclamp cope and drag components on the line.
• Load furnace charges and skim slag from molten metal.
• Pour metal using ladles and ensure safe handling of materials.
• Remove gates, sprues, and projections from castings with tools.
• Break up slag and dispose of waste.
• Clean castings, patterns, and flasks; sweep and maintain work areas.
