Job summary

J&T Business Consulting is seeking a Foundry Engineering Manager in Spokane, WA to act as the primary technical problem solver for the foundry. This hands-on role focuses on reducing scrap, improving casting quality, and increasing throughput across molding, melting, and finishing.

You will lead pattern and foundry engineering while guiding department managers and senior leadership. This technical position emphasizes root-cause analysis and continuous process improvement, not QMS administration.

Qualifications

• BS in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on foundry engineering experience in white iron and/or steel casting.
• Experience with pattern and method design (gating, risering, solidification).
• Strong root-cause problem-solving skills with metrics-driven approach; scrap reduction.
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the foundry’s primary technical problem solver, driving throughput and quality across molding, melting, and finishing.
• Reviews scrap and rework reports to identify root cause and drive measurable scrap reduction.
• Works with the molding and melting managers to improve casting quality and reduce downstream finishing.
• Drives pattern and method design (gating, risering, solidification) to improve yield.
• Identifies critical control points and implements corrective action.
• Manages the foundry engineering staff and provides technical support to departments.
• Supports new product development, translating customer requirements into producible casting and method designs.
• Recommends improvements to foundry equipment and facilities.
