Job summary

Wabtec in Export, Pennsylvania is seeking operators for foundry hot metal molds to ensure safe operations and meet quality standards. Responsibilities include setup, metal pouring, inspections, and following safety guidelines. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED alongside 1-3 months of experience. A starting pay range of $19.00–21.00 hourly is offered, including potential annual bonuses and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Accuracy and responsibility required; many duties performed without supervision.
• Training and/or experience with foundry hot metal molds preferred.
• Minimum 3–6 months of on-the-job training under supervision.

Job description

Typical Day

• Proper setup and safe operation of hot metal molds.
• Utilize foundry principles of metal melting, pouring (ladling), solidifying and handle opening and closing of hot metal (permanent molds or others).
• Inspection of work.
• Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA).

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside your function, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Standing and sitting for extended periods.
• Use hearing protection, safety gloves, and steel-toed boots.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accuracy and responsibility required; many duties are performed without close supervision.
• Training and/or experience with foundry hot metal molds and furnace apparatus is preferred.
• Minimum 3–6 months of on-the-job training under close supervision.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $19.00–21.00 per hour. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Benefits include health, welfare, and retirement; an annual bonus may be available if eligible.
