SCAD seeks a Foundry Technician to support the foundry, metal shop, ceramic shell room, and patina areas. You will help students apply techniques safely, maintain equipment, and enforce shop policies.

Responsibilities include demonstrations, inventory, and daily task coordination in a high-heat environment. You will report to the shop manager, participate in safety trainings, and assist with pour scheduling and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with industrial foundry equipment and processes.
• Familiarity with refractory maintenance, furnace and crucible inspection, and high-heat PPE standards.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort working in high-heat, dusty, and noisy environments in full PPE.

Responsabilités

• Maintain safety, cleanliness, and functionality of equipment and spaces; enforce shop policies and safety measures.
• Advise students on equipment operation, assist with class demonstrations and setup; manage inventories.
• Assist with daily assignments, staff training, and onboarding; report safety concerns to the shop manager.
• Coordinate with shop manager on pour dates and induction system cooling loop; ensure safety inspections.
• Coordinate material handling, loading/unloading, and data reporting to improve shop efficiency.
