Job summary

The role leads the pattern shop and foundry engineering function while advising management. This position emphasizes root-cause problem solving and process improvement, not a QMS administration role, with responsibilities spanning process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in metallurgical, materials, mechanical, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on foundry engineering in white iron or steel casting.
• Experience with gating, risering and solidification.
• Strong, metrics-driven root-cause problem-solving and scrap reduction.
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the foundry's primary technical problem solver to drive throughput and quality.
• Review scrap and rework data to identify root causes and reduce scrap.
• Collaborate with molding and melting managers to improve casting quality.
• Drive pattern and method design improvements (gating, risering, solidification).
• Identify critical control points and implement corrective action.
• Manage foundry engineering staff and apply statistical analyses.
• Support new product development by translating customer needs into casting designs.
• Recommend equipment and facilities improvements.
