Job Posting

We are seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgical Engineer to serve as the technical backbone of our gray and ductile iron green sand foundry in Evansville, Wisconsin. In this role, you will not just be another voice in the room; you will be our resident encyclopedia for iron chemistry, raw materials, and metallurgical properties. If you enjoy the heat of the foundry floor, love digging into production data to find process improvements, and want the autonomy to own the metallurgical function, this is your opportunity to lead.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the technical authority for gray and ductile iron melt chemistry, metallurgical properties, and overall foundry process performance.
  • Analyze casting defects, determine root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions to improve quality and reduce scrap.
  • Monitor and optimize our green sand systems, melt practices, and process controls to minimize manufacturing variation.
  • Lead, coach, and provide daily technical support to our Foundry Laboratory Technician.
  • Partner directly with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to solve complex technical challenges and drive operational excellence.

What You'll Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field, though we will consider equivalent, proven foundry experience in place of a formal degree.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience working directly in a gray or ductile iron green sand foundry.
  • Strong practical knowledge of melt practices, iron chemistry, green sand testing, and manufacturing process improvement.
  • Experience with laboratory testing methods, including spectrometer analysis, microstructure evaluation, and mechanical testing.
  • A proven track record of analyzing casting defects and successfully implementing root cause analysis and corrective actions.

We offer a stable, collaborative environment where your technical expertise will have a direct, visible impact on our success, backed by a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a target of three weeks of paid time off. If you are ready to take true ownership of a foundry's metallurgical performance.
