Job summary

Stainless Foundry & Engineering in Milwaukee, WI, seeks a BS-educated Mechanical or Materials Engineer to join our casting and machine shop operations. You will work on patterns, dies, simulations, and production improvements to meet customer drawings and specifications.

The role emphasizes hands-on involvement with pattern and die tooling, solidification simulations, and collaboration with manufacturing, QA and IE to optimize costs and quality.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Materials Engineering from a four-year college.
  • Local to Milwaukee area, onsite 100%.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer with cast components that meet dimensional criteria and soundness level of acceptance based on customer supplied drawings.
  • Review current orders being processed for accuracy and resolve differences.
  • Work with manufacturing, QA and IE to resolve issues and institute resolution.
  • Communicate and direct pattern and die shops on correct construction of tooling.
  • Engineer patterns and dies for production of cast products.
  • Re-engineer current patterns and dies to reduce costs and/or eliminate labor.
  • Perform casting simulation on computer to review direct solidification of cast components.
  • Transfer as needed to various customer base as situations arise.
  • Attend review meeting to resolve issues.
  • Inform manager of current activity on responsible accounts.
  • Proficient in 3d modeling (Solidworks preferred but not required.)
  • Solidification Simulation experience using either Solidcast or Magmasoft.
  • Perform any other job related activity as directed by manager.

Stainless Foundry & Engineering is a One Stop Shop. We offer two foundries in one, asand casting divisionandinvestment casting division, together withMachine Shop services.As your single source for dual casting processes, there’s no need to work with two foundries for the different types of casting and we can also recommend which might best fit your requirements. Our sand casting capacity ranges from 50 lbs. to 7,000+ lbs. furnace capacity, while our investment castings range from less than 1 lb. to 350 lbs.

Over 250 alloys are pouredat SF&E, with groups including: Stainless Steel, Hardenable & Non-Hardenable, Heat-Resistant Stainless, Nickel Alloys, Cobalt Alloys, Carbon & Low-Alloy Steels, Cast Irons, Tool Steels and Specialty Alloys.

OurMachine Shopservices include specialized turning and milling machining services. Our machining capabilities range from ounces to 600 lbs and enable us to manufacture parts with intricate geometry and detail while maintaining high precision and accuracy.

Role Description

Summary:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS Engineering in Mechanical or Materials.) from four-year college or university
  • Local to the Milwaukee area; onsite 100%
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
