Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to establish and lead a new Surgery service at VetMED in Phoenix. You will develop a caseload, build referral relationships, and shape workflows with support from an experienced team.

You will perform complex orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, mentor colleagues, and help grow the service within the Ethos network. Excellent leadership and client communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills with interest in complex orthopedic and soft tissue cases.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client centered approach.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, mentorship, and advancing specialty medicine.
  • An entrepreneurial and growth oriented mindset with enthusiasm for building a new service.
  • A desire to develop strong referral relationships and establish a sustainable Surgery service.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a new Surgery service at VetMED.
  • Develop a surgical caseload through local veterinarians and the broader community.
  • Balance time between consultations, case workups, and surgeries.
  • Perform orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries using available imaging and equipment.
  • Develop diagnostic and treatment plans for complex surgical cases.
  • Define workflows and processes to support an efficient Surgery service.
  • Identify equipment, staffing, and resources to support growth.
  • Collaborate with Critical Care, Emergency, Dermatology, and other teams.
