Job description

Founding Veterinarian – In-Home Pet Euthanasia (Chicago Area)

Location: Greater Chicago Area
Schedule: 4 days/week (flexible)
Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience) + bonus + equity

About EverPaw:
EverPaw is a mission-driven veterinary service that provides compassionate, in-home pet euthanasia. We help pets pass peacefully at home, surrounded by the people who love them most. Our goal is to offer a dignified alternative to stressful clinic visits — and to give veterinarians a flexible, meaningful way to practice.

The Role:
We’re seeking a full-time veterinarian to join our growing team in the Greater Chicago area. In this role, you’ll travel to families’ homes to provide gentle, end-of-life care. You’ll have the time and autonomy to do your best work, without the chaos of a clinic. Scheduling is flexible and fully supported by our operations team — you show up, care for the pet and family, and we handle the rest.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with EverPaw’s founder and team to refine operations and care protocols
  • Perform peaceful, in-home euthanasia for dogs and cats
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet families
  • Maintain accurate records and manage medications (DEA license required or in progress)
  • Work with EverPaw’s logistics team for scheduling and aftercare coordination

What We Offer:

  • Flexible schedule (you set your availability)
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • No overnight shifts, on-call, or upselling
  • Scheduling, client communication, and aftercare handled for you
  • Meaningful, one-on-one care in a low-stress environment

Requirements:

  • DVM or equivalent and licensed to practice in Illinois
  • DEA license (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Vehicle for driving within the Chicago area
  • Excellent communication and bedside manner
  • Comfort working independently
  • Passion for providing empathetic end-of-life care
