Job summary

People In AI is hiring its first full-time engineer in New York City to lead technical direction across the platform. The role spans product engineering, data systems, integrations, infrastructure and AI-driven workflows, with ownership of key systems and hands-on coding.

You’ll shape architecture, collaborate with founders, and mentor future engineers while helping deliver reliable, customer-focused solutions for complex insurance workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience owning production systems and platform reliability.
• Experience in an early-stage or fast-moving environment.
• Comfort working directly with customers and making architectural decisions.
• Experience using modern AI tools while validating outputs.

Responsibilities

• Own critical systems across data ingestion, reconciliation and recovery workflows.
• Help set technical direction and make key architectural decisions.
• Build reliable integrations across contracts, claims, remittance and customer data.
• Develop evaluation and monitoring systems for models and automated workflows.
• Work directly with customers to turn complex operational problems into simple products.
• Shape engineering standards, processes and technical quality.
• Help hire, onboard and mentor future engineers as the team grows.
