We’re looking for a Founding Software Engineer to join our early team and help shape the future of commerce for creators. You'll work directly with the founder to expand our core platform and build new tools and integrations that help creators grow their businesses across the web.

From evolving our Rails-based auction marketplace to third party integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, and more, this is a hands-on role with massive ownership and impact. If you love comics and want to help creators thrive, this role is for you!

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve our core Ruby on Rails platform, including features for auctions, payments, messaging, and creator tooling.
• Lead new initiatives like WooCommerce and Wix integrations
• Design and implement clean, scalable APIs and developer-facing tools.
• Collaborate closely with the founder to ship user-facing features quickly and thoughtfully.
• Contribute to technical decision-making, roadmap planning, and overall product strategy.
• Help shape our engineering culture, development workflows, and quality standards as we grow.
• 4+ years of professional experience as a full-stack engineer.
• Deep experience with Ruby on Rails in a production environment.
• Strong experience building and integrating with RESTful APIs.
• Comfortable learning and working with new platforms (e.g., WordPress, WooCommerce, Wix, Shopify, etc.)
• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and background jobs.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong communication skills and a bias toward action.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience building eCommerce, marketplace, or creator economy platforms.
• Familiarity with Heroku or similar PaaS environments.
• Experience with ecommerce as a service platforms like WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, and Shopify
• Previous startup or founding engineer experience.
• Previous experience at companies in the comics, anime, video game, film, and nerd culture space.
• Interest in comics, anime, gaming, or nerd culture (a big plus but not required!).
