Job summary

Scion Technology Staffing is seeking a Founding Research Engineer for a pioneering AI startup in San Francisco, onsite at our client. You will drive RL research and post-training evaluations while owning core engineering projects from concept to deployment.

You will work alongside founders, building benchmarks, and shaping RealSuite tasks. This role requires a mix of research insight and hands-on software development in a fast-paced startup environment offering substantial ownership and growth

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in reinforcement learning, coding RL, model evaluations and AI post-training.
• Ability to combine research intuition with hands-on engineering to build and evaluate solutions.
• Experience with RL tasks, model evaluations, post-training workflows, or related AI research.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement coding RL evaluations, tasks, and task creation pipelines.
• Build and enhance RealSuite, evaluating frontier AI models against benchmarks and benchmarks.
• Collaborate with frontier AI labs to develop RL tasks for research and training needs.
• Develop evaluation harnesses, benchmarks, and testing methodologies to assess model performance.
• Work with customers to understand technical requirements and deliver project solutions.
• Combine research experimentation with engineering to improve evaluation and post-training workflows.
• Take ownership of technical projects from research to delivery, with leadership potential.
• Contribute to growing the engineering organization as the company scales.
