Job summary

Lotus Health is seeking a Founding Research Engineer in San Francisco to design, prototype, and ship core reasoning and agentic systems for medical data. You will curate data, train models, and ensure citations, safety, and clinical alignment while delivering production-ready features.

You will collaborate with clinicians and the founding team, shaping model architecture and tool use, with measurable impact on patients and clinicians at scale.

Qualifications

• Proven experience shipping ML features to real users.
• Experience with RAG, prompt and tool design, and evaluation harnesses.
• Experience working on-site in San Francisco or similar environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and ship core reasoning and agentic systems for medical data.
• Develop retrieval, function calling, and planning workflows with citations and uncertainty awareness.
• Own eval stack for medical correctness, bias, safety, latency, and cost.
• Build automated red teaming and regression suites tied to clinical guidelines and sources.
• Collaborate with data and product engineers on retrieval, storage schemas, and lineage.
