Job summary

Obviant is seeking a Founding Product Designer to establish our design foundation across products. You will define user experience strategy, lead design thinking, and execute all design initiatives as we bring cutting-edge tech to the defense sector.

You will work closely with product, engineering, and leadership to shape UI and our core identity. As the first design hire, you’ll set vision, move quickly, and iterate—creating intuitive, engaging, and beautifully crafted experiences.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in UI/UX or product design, startup or high-growth environment
• Strong portfolio across shipped digital products
• Experience taking products from 0→1 in fast-paced environments
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the UX and UI strategy from ground up, setting design vision
• Own end-to-end product design from discovery to hand-off
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business to translate needs into intuitive experiences
• Generate and iterate multiple design concepts to inform product direction
• Create high-fidelity UI assets for web and mobile applications
• Contribute to a scalable design system and patterns library
• Develop user journeys, info architecture, and usability testing processes
• Champion data-informed design and user research to improve the product
• Set an example of design leadership and identify areas for innovation
• Stay current with design trends and best practices
• Communicate design decisions effectively across the organization
