Job summary

Somerset Academy is seeking a Founding Principal to serve as the instructional leader for our first school in St. John’s County. The role focuses on establishing a culture of excellence, high-quality instruction, strong relationships, and continuous improvement.

You will oversee operations, implement curriculum and assessments, recruit and develop staff, and drive family and community partnerships. You will lead the launch and growth of the campus, ensuring compliance with ELL/ESE requirements

Qualifications

• Experience in school leadership roles (e.g., Principal, Assistant Principal, Lead Teacher, Curriculum Specialist).
• Proven track record of increasing student achievement and parental engagement.
• Experience with curriculum development, innovation, and school-wide implementation.
• Strong background in instructional leadership, assessment, and data analysis.
• Ability to conduct formal and informal observations and coach teachers.
• Knowledge of federal/state requirements for ELL and ESE.
• Experience building community partnerships and fostering a positive school culture.
• Ability to manage operations including budgeting and resource allocation.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and equitable outcomes for all students.
• Entrepreneurial mindset to establish a Founding Principal role and lead school expansion.

Responsibilities include overseeing school operations, implementing curriculum and assessment programs, recruiting and developing staff, monitoring student performance, fostering family and community partnerships, and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment. The Principal will lead the successful launch and growth of the school while upholding Somerset Academy's mission, values, and commitment to educational excellence.

Qualifications:

• A K-12 Educational Leadership Certification
• Experience in a school leadership role (Principal, Assistant Principal, Lead Teacher, Curriculum Specialist, or similar)
• Proven record of increasing student achievement and ensuring excellence in education Demonstrated success in parental engagement and stakeholder satisfaction
• Experience with curriculum development, innovation, and school-wide implementation Strong background in instructional leadership, assessment, and data analysis
• Ability to conduct formal and informal observations and provide effective coaching and mentoring to teachers
• Knowledge of federal and state requirements for English Language Learners (ELL) and Students with Disabilities (ESE)
• Experience in building community partnerships and fostering a positive school culture Ability to manage school operations, including budgeting and resource allocation
