About us: We are Lighten, a seed-stage healthcare AI startup that's determined to solve fundamental challenges in driving patient insights from healthcare data. Our founding team comprises former Stanford PhDs and postdocs in clinical informatics and AI, clinicians, and healthcare industry veterans. Founding Machine Learning Engineer (Senior or Staff level)

You can expect to:

1. Architect, develop, and validate novel machine learning systems, including large language models, tailored for complex healthcare data use cases.
2. Deploy ML pipelines into cloud environments to ensure scalability, low latency, and performance.
3. Stay current with the latest advancements in ML applications to healthcare data.
4. Have the ability to work in person in Palo Alto, CA at least 4 days a week.

We look for:

1. 5+ years of professional experience in machine learning preferably involving healthcare data.
2. Proficient in Python, and fluency with modern data science and ML/NLP libraries (PyTorch, HuggingFace, etc.).
3. Strong knowledge of statistical and deep learning techniques and architectures.
4. Proven experience working with machine learning systems and foundation models (e.g. large language models) and enterprise software products for machine learning and/or data science applications.
5. Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to independently tackle challenging problems.
6. Ideally has a track record of publications in top ML conferences/journals.
7. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate.
