Job summary

Oxford Classical Charter School in Oxford, PA, seeks a Founding Headmaster / Principal to lead the school through pre-opening and launch, reporting to the board, recruiting teachers, and establishing academic and operating systems for a K-6 start.

This role requires strong governance, budgeting, and public communication, with a goal of a disciplined, fully prepared opening in Fall 2028 and ongoing oversight of instruction, student conduct, and compliance as the school grows to additional grades.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing adults in a school setting.
• Strong grounding in classical education and liberal arts.
• Ability to establish systems and operate without existing structures.
• Experience with charter schools or Pennsylvania requirements is valuable.
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a founding faculty and staff.
• Put Oxford's K-6 classical program into daily practice with clear curriculum expectations.
• Establish orderly classrooms and school routines grounded in attention, diligence, respect, self-government, and responsibility.
• Work with the board on authorizer follow-up, staffing, facilities, financial controls, policies, safety, technology, transportation, food service, and opening operations.
• Develop compliant, effective services for students with disabilities and English learners while preserving access to the curriculum and high expectations.
• Support enrollment, family orientation, community engagement, and clear public communication about the school's mission.
• Manage the approved budget and provide the board with accurate reports on academics, staffing, enrollment, finances, compliance, and readiness.
• Represent the school before families, community organizations, the authorizer, public agencies, and prospective supporters.
• Prepare for the addition of one grade each year without sacrificing academic quality, school culture, or financial discipline.
