Job summary

Orbis Group is building an AI-powered platform and is hiring a key engineer to join a brand-new Forward Deployed Engineering function. You will work closely with enterprise customers, own their technical outcomes, and help define how the FDE team operates as it grows.

You’ll be hands-on, making architectural decisions while delivering customer solutions, spanning APIs, integrations, and backend systems. Previous work with financial services infra is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience working directly with external customers or stakeholders in a technical capacity.
• Ability to discuss architecture with leadership and still ship code.
• Experience in identity, fraud, KYC/KYB or financial services infrastructure is useful.

I’m hiring for one of the first engineers to join a brand-new Forward Deployed Engineering function at an AI-powered platform trusted by 900+ financial institutions and fintechs.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape an FDE team from the very beginning.

It’s a software engineering role at its core, but instead of working purely against an internal product roadmap, you’ll work directly with some of the company’s largest enterprise customers and take ownership of their technical outcomes.

You’ll get close to the problem, work alongside customer engineering teams, make architectural decisions and then stay hands-on to build and ship the solution.

The work will span APIs, third-party integrations, SDKs, backend systems, latency challenges and production code, with the opportunity to turn what you build for individual customers into reusable capabilities across the wider platform.

We’re looking for someone with 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience who has also worked directly with external customers or stakeholders in a technical capacity. That could have been within Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering with deep technical ownership, or a similar customer-facing engineering role.

You’ll need to be comfortable doing both sides of the job: having an architecture conversation with a VP of Engineering and getting into the code to deliver the outcome.

Experience within identity, fraud, KYC/KYB or financial services infrastructure is useful, but not essential.
