Job summary

Ember AI in Burlingame, CA is hiring founding engineers to scale our healthcare-finance AI platform. You’ll build end-to-end features across web apps and backend services, and shape the evaluation infrastructure for AI/LLM healthcare finance apps.

We’re backed by Y Combinator and Nexus Venture Partners and work with physician groups and health systems across the US. You’ll thrive in ambiguity, design scalable systems, and lead with collaboration.

Qualifications

Hello! We8re Charlene and Warren, and we1re hiring a few Founding Engineers to scale with us!

What we1re building

Ember AI is building the most advanced agents to help healthcare providers get paid for the care they deliver, without all the admin. We1re growing very fast, at 200% mom, which is why we need you!

We1re backed by Y Combinator and Nexus Venture Partners and already working with physician groups and healthcare systems across the US.

A little about our backgrounds: cofounded by Charlene Wang, ex-Google healthcare AI Product Lead, and Warren Wang, an MIT AI researcher with experience at NVIDIA and MIT CSAIL.

What Youll Do

• Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end features across our web applications and backend services.
• Build internal evaluation infrastructure for AI and LLM healthcare finance applications.
• Architect and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable systems that integrate with various healthcare platforms.
• Drive best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.

About You

• Bachelors or Master1s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, React, Node.js.
• Comfortable with LLM applications and containerized deployments.
• Thrives in environments of complexity and ambiguity, prioritizing collaboration and seeking the best ideas regardless of their source.
• A willingness to pitch in wherever needed—we move fast, and we need team players who are eager to contribute.

Bonus

• Hands-on work with LLM prompt engineering, finetuning, and RAG applications.
• Experience with workflow automations.
• Prior work in healthcare, finance AI, or other regulated, high-stakes industries.
• Open-source contributions to ML libraries, evaluation suites, or benchmarking tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of database systems, both relational and non-relational.
• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as FHIR, HL7, and medical coding.
