Flow's AI architecture leverages state-of-the-art advancements in deep learning, advanced LLM-based workflows, transformer networks, and techniques in natural language processing and understanding (NLP/NLU). The engineering organization builds on semantic modeling principles, incorporating graph theory, vector databases, and graph databases to create structured, high-context reasoning systems. The engineering organization applies a modular, event-driven approach using Apache Kafka to support a distributed microservices environment. Position Overview
As a
Founding Engineer and Principal Full-Stack Artificial Intelligence Engineer at Flow, you will be a catalyst responsible for owning, driving, and executing the company's overall engineering strategy in alignment with product vision and business objectives, and consistently achieving and ensuring high product engineering velocity and live production delivery to customers and users. This is a strictly
equity-only position currently, with a compensation of 3% equity, subject to a industry-standard 1-year cliff and 4-year vesting schedule. You will play a critical role in the development, deployment, delivery, and maintenance of scalable and reliable AI solutions, while being a star contributor on high-performing engineering Scrum teams.
A key part of your responsibility will be overseeing the development and optimization of our
AI and deep learning architectures, which utilize
TensorFlow,
PyTorch, and state-of-the-art
LLMs and transformer-based models for
NLP, semantic search, vector DBs, graph theory, and
advanced LLM-based workflows. Your expertise in
AI and deep learning architecture, combined with a strong command of cloud-agnostic services, will ensure the flawless deployment of these AI solutions into production environments.
As a
systems architect and end-to-end engineer, you will design
event-driven (Kafka) and
microservices-based architectures that leverage the full power of
Rust, Tauri, Go/Golang, gRPC, Python, FastAPI, C++/Qt, C#, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and other full-stack technologies, while ensuring flawless integration with cloud-native tools such as
Docker, Kubernetes,
Ansible,
Terraform, and Chef for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will be accountable for implementing
fully automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines using
GitHub Actions, and automated testing suites for
QA/automated testing, ensuring that every commit and deployment meets the stringent reliability, scalability, and security standards expected in enterprise-grade AI platforms.
With a focus on
DDD, modular, event-driven, serverless, cloud-native, and microservices architecture, you’ll design loosely coupled services that allow for scalable, independent development, testing, and deployment, ensuring modularity and ease of maintenance. Your advanced knowledge of
Bash/SSH, shell scripting, Linux administration, networking (TCP/IP/UDP/Ports/SSL/TLS), VPC, and
encryption technologies will enable you to fine-tune low-level system configurations for maximum performance and security.
You will also spearhead the
QA/Automated Testing and DevOps strategy, implementing
Trunk-Based Development and Shift-Left Testing, fully automated
CI/CD pipelines using
GitHub Actions, and SonarQube, Pytest, and equivalent QA tools for automate testing, build, and deployment workflows. Your experience with
Docker, Kubernetes,
Ansible,
Terraform, Chef, and
cloud infrastructure will be critical for deploying AI solutions in a cloud-agnostic environment, ensuring cost-reduction, high uptime, and the ability to scale up.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Architecture & Product Development: Lead the systems architecture, development, QA/automated testing, DevOps, CICD, staging, and live production deployment of AI platforms, ensuring high scalability and reliability.
- Individual Contributor Excellence: Be a catalyst, and primary technical subject matter expert, driving productive results in product development, ensure high product engineering velocity, and collaborate in optimization efforts while influencing cross-functional engineering Scrum teams through your contributions.
- Technology Stack Optimization: Oversee the development and enhancement of our core technology stack, including frontend, backend systems, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
- DevOps & CI/CD Implementation: Establish best practices for DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud automation to streamline the development lifecycle, ensuring efficient and error-free deployment processes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with product management, sales, and marketing teams to drive product innovation, user adoption, and market expansion.
- Emerging Technologies R&D: Stay current with the latest technologies and industry engineering trends, evaluating their potential impact and recommending strategic initiatives to keep Flow at the forefront of the technology industry.
Qualifications
- Full-Time Commitment:
- Must be able to dedicate 40-50+ hours per week full-time into this position.***
- Educational Background:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
- Professional Experience:
- 8-12+ years of professional industry experience in full-stack engineering, specifically with C++/Qt, Tauri, Rust, Go/Golang, gRPC, FastAPI, Python, C#, API development, OAuth, and database architecture.
- Deep technical experience with GitOps, Trunk-Based Development, Shift-Left Testing, Test-Driven Development, QA testing methodologies, and SonarQube/Snyk scans.
- Strong experience in C++/Qt, Tauri, Rust, Go/Golang, gRPC, FastAPI, Python, C#, PostgreSQL, NOSQL databases, caching, and advanced system design and architecture.
- Proven experience and architectural decision making ownership with Domain-Driven Design (DDD), modular monolith architecture, event-driven architecture, serverless architecture, cloud-native architecture, and microservices architecture.
- Proven experience in DevOps deployment, including fully automated CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), low-level networking, high-level networking, VPC, subnets, and automation.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure deployments and experience in managing multi-cloud or cloud-agnostic infrastructures for live production environments.
- 8-12+ years of experience with Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning, including frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and experience with NLP, LLMs, semantic search, transformer-based models, and neural networks.
- Experience with caching (KeyDB), Bash, SSH, shell scripting, Linux administration, reverse proxies (Nginx), Gunicorn, cybersecurity protocols, networking (TCP/IP), and encryption technologies.
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven track record of successfully implementing and delivering reliable, world-class products in fast-paced Agile/Scrum engineering environments.
- Communication:
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate between cross-functional Scrum teams effectively.
