Job summary

DRW, a diversified trading firm headquartered in Chicago, seeks a Lead/Senior Engineer to own the People Technology team’s eight HR‑adjacent applications. You will be the first technical hire, coding hands-on while shaping the roadmap and staffing the team to scale HR technology.

You will partner with HR stakeholders across Talent Acquisition, Development, and Management, balancing maintenance with new features in Python, TypeScript/React, Ruby, and more.

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack engineering background with hands-on code across modern stacks.
• Ability to own multiple applications end-to-end from roadmap to delivery.
• Experience translating business needs into technical solutions for HR tech.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction and roadmap for a suite of eight HR-adjacent applications.
• Serve as primary engineering contact for HR stakeholders and translate needs into tech solutions.
• Assess tech debt and modernization opportunities across all applications.
• Validate initial staffing model and help define second engineering role.
• Write and ship production code across Python, TypeScript/React, Ruby, FastAPI, Flask, Next.js, PostgreSQL.
• Formalize support processes and operational workflows as the team matures.
