Job summary

Placer.ai is seeking a Founding Engineer, Consumer Apps to own the consumer product end-to-end: mobile apps on Android and iOS, the backend, the permission and consent flow, and integration with the Placer platform.

You’ll work directly with the VP of Consumer Apps, lead initial architecture, ship small experiments quickly, and set technical foundations as the team grows, with AI-first tooling and privacy by design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of software engineering, with 4+ years on B2C products
• Proven UX-focused shipped consumer experiences
• Comfortable in move fast, fail fast environments
• Mastery of AI development tools and AI-assisted design
• Experience taking a consumer app from zero to launch as founder/early engineer
• Deep native platform expertise on Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift
• Experience SDK integrations in consumer mobile apps
• Backend API and data services experience on a cloud platform (Python and GCP)
• Experience with App Store and Google Play policy processes
• Clear written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and ship consumer apps on Android and iOS and backend services
• Own the quality of the consumer experience and funnel from onboarding to engagement
• Build permission and consent flows for App Store and Google Play
• Instrument full funnel analytics from day one, including attribution to retention
• Own measurement and experimentation with funnel reporting
• Release small experiments quickly and iterate based on data
• Work AI-first and leverage AI tooling to boost productivity
• Embed existing data collection and privacy pipeline into apps
• Ensure account integrity and fraud controls from launch
• Make early technical decisions on stack, architecture, and vendor choices
• Help hire and mentor future engineers
