River Markets in San Francisco seeks a founding engineer to own core systems end to end, from architecture to production, including backend, frontend, and exchange API integrations.

As an AI-native team, we value ownership, speed, and high technical bars. You will help define culture and engineering standards in a small, fast-moving environment with competitive compensation and equity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional SWE experience shipping production systems.
• Experience designing, shipping and operating end-to-end features.
• Fluency in a modern language and comfort across backend, data pipelines, UI.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the systems behind the order book, execution stack, exchange connectivity, and portfolio management.
• Integrate with external exchanges and APIs where latency matters.
• Write high-quality, testable code and contribute to code reviews.
• Improve infrastructure, reliability, and observability for fast iteration.
• Help define engineering culture, standards, and early hiring decisions.
