EcoGPT is seeking a Founding Engineer to help build the products and systems behind EcoGPT. This hands-on role offers significant ownership as you move ideas from prototypes to products used by millions.

You'll work directly with the founders and the rest of the team on user-facing features, AI systems, and scalable infrastructure, shaping the product and engineering culture from day one. This is a unique opportunity to help define architecture, tooling, and processes in a fast-growing startup.

EcoGPT is building an AI company centered around people and the planet.

We’ve grown to 3M+ users and are currently growing 50–100% month over month. We’re building an alternative to traditional AI platforms around better products, efficient AI, privacy, and safety.

We’re a small team moving extremely quickly, and we’re looking for an exceptional engineer who wants to help build what comes next.

The Role

We’re hiring a Founding Engineer to help build the products and systems behind EcoGPT.

This is a hands‑on role with significant ownership. You might spend one day building a new user experience, the next improving our AI agent architecture, debugging a production issue, or making the product faster and more reliable.

You’ll work directly with the founders and the rest of the team, taking ideas from early prototypes to products used by millions of people.

You’ll help with:

• Building and shipping features across our consumer apps and backend
• Developing AI systems, including agents, tool use, memory, and retrieval
• Improving model quality through evaluations and experimentation
• Making thoughtful tradeoffs across latency, cost, reliability, and user experience
• Building infrastructure that scales with our growth
• Working closely with design and product to make complex technology feel simple
• Taking responsibility for what you ship, from architecture through launch and iteration
• Jumping into whichever engineering problem matters most that week

Who We’re Looking For

You’re probably a strong fit if you:

• Have built and shipped ambitious products that people actually use
• Understand your work deeply and can explain the decisions behind it
• Have strong full‑stack or backend engineering skills
• Have hands‑on experience building with AI models, ideally including agents or AI harnesses
• Have strong product judgment and care about the details of the user experience
• Move quickly without losing sight of quality, reliability, or privacy
• Can take an open‑ended problem and turn it into something that works
• Communicate clearly and work well with a small, fast‑moving team
• Stay close to developments in AI and can distinguish useful advances from hype
• Want meaningful ownership in building a consumer AI company

We care much more about ability, initiative, and what you’ve built than a specific degree or number of years of experience. We want to see projects you know inside out and the impact they’ve had.

Compensation:

$150,000–$250,000 salary plus 1-3% equity.
